Screen repair starts with confirming what actually failed.
Cracked glass, black display, lines, flicker, touch problems, or an image that disappears when the lid moves can all be called a screen problem. The panel, cable, connector, backlight, or board can create similar symptoms, so the correct repair starts with the correct diagnosis.
Section 01 / Symptoms
What is the screen doing?
Each of these points at a different one of the four faults above.
Section 02 / Diagnosis
Three different faults, one description
Ordering a panel before knowing which of these it is, is how people spend several hundred dollars and still have a broken screen.
Glass only
Cracked to look at, but the image underneath is intact and touch still works everywhere. On some devices the glass is a separate layer and can be replaced on its own. On many modern ones it is bonded to the display and cannot, which is a cost difference worth knowing before committing.
The display itself
Black patches, spreading ink-like bleeds, dead columns, or no image at all. The panel has failed and does need replacing. This is the genuine screen replacement, and its price is driven almost entirely by what the panel costs for that model.
The connection to the board
A flickering image, lines that change when the lid moves, or a display that cuts out at certain angles. The panel is fine and the cable or connector between it and the board has worn or lifted. Replacing the screen here fixes nothing and costs the most of the three.
The backlight circuit
A screen that looks black but shows a faint image under a flashlight is not a broken display at all. The panel is working and the circuit driving its backlight, which sits on the main board, has failed. This is one of the most commonly misdiagnosed faults in the trade, and it is a board repair.

Section 04 / Pricing
What screen repair costs
Panel cost drives nearly all of it, and panels vary enormously between models.
Diagnostic
Credited toward an approved repair. Covers the testing needed to identify which of the four it is.
Screen replacement
Quoted by exact model and part. Common phone screens and related parts are kept in inventory when available, so call or text with the model for current stock and pricing.
Cable, connector, or backlight
Board-level work where the display itself is fine. Often considerably cheaper than the replacement it saves you from.
Diagnosis before ordering is what keeps this from being an expensive guess. For a number on your model, text or call.

Before you book
My screen is black but I can see a faint image with a flashlight. What is that?
The display is working and the backlight circuit that lights it, which sits on the main board, has failed. This is a board repair. It is one of the most frequently misdiagnosed faults in the trade, and replacing the screen costs several hundred dollars and does not fix it.
Can you replace just the glass and keep the display?
It depends on the device. Some have a separate glass layer that can be replaced on its own. On many modern devices the glass is bonded to the display as one assembly and the two cannot be separated economically. Which one you have is established during the diagnostic, before anything is ordered.
The picture flickers when I move the lid. New screen?
Almost certainly not. That is the display cable or its connector, worn by movement through the hinge. The panel is fine. A screen replacement is both the most expensive answer and the wrong one for this fault.
Will the replacement be as good as the original?
The intent is a like-for-like panel matched to your model's specification, including refresh rate and resolution where those matter. If only a lower specification part is available for your device you will be told before it is ordered, not after it is fitted.
Book
Send the exact model for a screen quote, or bring it in if the diagnosis is not obvious.
If the display works intermittently or changes with movement, do not assume the panel is the problem until the cable and connector path is checked. $40 diagnostic credited toward approved repair.
